#11 Walter Sisulu Gardens
Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens (South Africa) | November 2015
This Botanical Garden was founded in 1982 and forms a sanctuary in the suburban sprawl of Johannesburg. The gardens are visited by many people, it is a popular place for outings. Keith took us there for a Sunday morning hike and told us he uses the loop as an exercise to stay fit. There is a pair of majestic Verreaux Eagles breeding on the cliffs alongside the waterfall. We were lucky to see them fly over just after climbing up!
The first thing I found was the candy wrapper with gold. Then a beer bottle cap. And then golden leaves, grasses and stones followed. And lots of cigarette buds! When we were sitting down for a drink at the cafe the manager started to get rid of the rubbish that was on our table and thanked us for tidying the gardens. I stopped him and had to defend my treasures, explaining that I collected it for an art project.
